This is the first offering in our new "Rogness Reserve" line of beers. These are small one-off batches that will be bottled and kegged in limited quantities and will never be the same. Belfort is a Belgian-style Strong Ale with a beautiful crimson hue from caramel malts and hints of plum, grape and banana from the yeast. Grab a bottle or glass right now and a bottle for later. This beer will age well and develop subtle flavor complexities over time. Ideally served at 50-55F. Pairs well with roasted meats or fish, and stinky cheese.

This is a richer version of our Dancin� Monks Dubbel, conditioned on oak cubes used by Spirit of Texas Distilleries to age their Pecan Street Rum. While no additional alcohol is derived from the conditioning process, the oak adds a rich complexity to the ale. Pair with dark chocolate desserts or bold cheeses.

This beer is based on chemical analysis of pottery fragments found in Honduras which revealed the earliest known alcoholic chocolate drink used by early civilization to toast special occasions. the discovery of this beverage pushed back the earliest use of cocoa for human consumption more than 500 years to 1200 BC. As per the analysis, Dogfish head�s Theobroma (food of the gods) is brewed with Aztec cocoa powder and cocoa nibs, honey, chilies, and annatto (fragrant tree seeds). Theobroma is 9% ABV and will be available in Champagne bottles by late spring 2008.
