For those of you who didn't go to GABF this year, we're just considering it a member's choice month - but try to bring something from Colorado or the West Coast (extra points if it's hard to find locally) to keep with the theme.

Cutthroat Porter

Porter | 4.8% ABV | 43 IBU
Offered By: FATBOY
Club/Brewer Notes:
Not quite a stout but definitely no lightweight, Cutthroat Porter is smooth and robust. Inspired by the classic London porters, we use dark roasted malts to create a deep, rich color and flavor that hint at chocolate and coffee. We named it Cutthroat Porter as our tribute to the Colorado state fish – with its own rich heritage and unmistakable dark coloring. And while we're big fans of small batches, here's to the currently threatened Cutthroat population reaching mass quantities.

Upland Brewing Company

Bad Elmers Porter

Porter | 5% ABV | 30 IBU
Offered By: FATBOY
Club/Brewer Notes:
The porter style takes its name from the dock workers and street laborers of London who favored the style in the days when it was first developed in the 18th century. In the spirit of these hardworking men, Bad Elmer personifies the hardy settlers of the rugged and heavily wooded land of the Norman and Crawford Uplands of southern Indiana. Bad Elmer's Porter is a medium-bodied beer, brewed with lots of roasted malt, giving it flavors of coffee, liquorice, and chocolate.

Chock full of highly roasted barley malt and 100 lbs. of flaked oatmeal, the Warlock is a dark and satisfying winter elixir. Smooth, rich and exceptionally comforting. An annually-awaited winter seasonal, and one of our award winners. Winner of the Silver Medal in the Foreign-style Stout category at the 1998 Great American Beer Festival®.

White River Brewing Company

Copper Creek IPA

India Pale Ale | 6.7% ABV | Unknown IBU
Offered By: FATBOY
Club/Brewer Notes:
Copper Creek IPA is brewed with a nod to the original English style, highly hopped and higher in alcohol. Copper Creek is brewed with four malts, bittered with New Zealand Pacific Jade hops, and finished with American Cascade. This complex pale ale is then dry-hopped with Pacific Jade and Kent Golding. Entering with both complex malt and hop aromas, Copper Creek's distinct malt flavor is of toasted malt, caramel and biscuits. With a slight citrus finish, sweet fruitiness and spiciness, and a dry lingering hop bitterness

Club/Brewer Notes:
American hops provide a smooth distraction for Payback Porter's robust strength, which is concealed within the shadows of dark imported malts.

STLIPA

Double IPA | 8% ABV | 55 IBU
Offered By: FATBOY
Club/Brewer Notes:
STLIPA, Revolution Series #7: We pronounce it “sta-leep-ah”, you pronounce it how you like. STLIPA, which is the acronym for St. Louis India Pale Ale, is actually a DIPA (Double or Imperial IPA- i.e., double the stats of a traditional IPA). We hope it's a ‘sleeper' that you'll include in your set of favorite DIPA's from one of the best beer cities in the world: St. Louis. Hops- Sterling, Cascade, Mt. Hood, Willamette, Chinook

Stone Brewing Company

Stone Enjoy By 10.25.13

American-Style India Pale Ale (IPA) | 9.4% ABV | 88 IBU
Offered By: NOSS
Club/Brewer Notes:
You have in your hands a devastatingly fresh double IPA. While freshness is a key component of many beers- especially big, citrusy, floral IPAs- we've taken it further, a lot further, in this IPA. You see, we specifically brewed it NOT to last. We've not only gone to extensive lengths to ensure that you're getting this beer in your hands within an extraordinarily short window, we made sure that the Enjoy By date isn't randomly etched in tiny text somewhere on the bottle, to be overlooked by all but the most attentive of retailers and beer fans. Instead, we've sent a clear message with the name of the beer itself that there is no better time than right now to enjoy this IPA.

Club/Brewer Notes:
Slap Yer Mammy is a shocking Double IPA! Coming in at 10.5% ABV this huge ale is brewed with 7 of the highest quality malts and 9 varieties of hops! On our 125 minute boil we pack in 125 IBU's, making this one of the hoppiest beers ever brewed in the world. If that's not enough hops, then just wait! Unlike any of our other beers, we dry hop this one twice to pack in as much aroma as possible! A truly shocking Double IPA all you Hopophiles.

Bristol Brewing Company

Bristol's Old No. 23 Barley Wine Ale

American-Style Barley Wine Ale | 11.25% ABV | Unknown IBU
Offered By: NOSS
Club/Brewer Notes:
Our biggest beer by far, Old No. 23 revives an English farmhouse brewery tradition of making a strong ale to set aside for special occasions. Our version, while tedious and time-consuming to brew, rewards the connoisseur with an ale that has the depth and complexity of a good brandy or single malt scotch. Massive quantities of malt and hops, a long aging time and limited availability make this a special ale worthy of its reputation.

"Well balanced....complex as hello. Would most certainly drink nude." - Archie

The Bruery

Melange #3

Blend of bourbon barrel aged strong ale | 15.5% ABV | Unknown IBU
Offered By: KAY JAY
Club/Brewer Notes:
Melange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. White Oak Sap, a wheat wine, our Anniversary Series old ale and our imperial stout, Black Tuesday, join forces in this luxurious strong ale that links some of the best characteristics of each of the contributing beers. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff.

Utopias

American-Style Barley Wine Ale | 29% ABV | 25 IBU
Offered By: MOJO
Club/Brewer Notes:
2012 10th Anniversary Batch: · The 2012 batch of Samuel Adams Utopias nets out at a bit above 29% ABV - an unprecedented level. · Brewed using traditional methods, we begin with the world's finest, all-natural ingredients, including a blend of two-row Caramel and Munich malts that impart the rich, ruby-black color. Distinct hop character from Noble hops – Hallertau Mittlefrueh, Spalt Spalter and Tettnang Teggnanger – impart complexity and balance. Samuel Adams Utopias is brewed several yeast strains, including one typically reserved for champagne. · Rivaling the world's finest cognacs and ports, our brewers recommend serving this strong, rich, uncarbonated dark beer as an ideal after-dinner drink at room temperature (about 70°F) in 2oz pours. · The 2012 batch of Samuel Adams Utopias is a blend of liquids, some of which have been aged in a variety of wood barrels for 19 years. This long aging process enhances the beer's distinct vanilla and maple notes, and its high alcohol content creates a heated aroma of ginger and cinnamon. As a result, Samuel Adams Utopias invokes the flavors of a rich vintage Port, fine Cognac, or aged Sherry while feeling surprisingly light on the palate. The brew has sweet flavors of honey, toffee, caramel, cocoa and vanilla, balanced by distinct notes of molasses, raisins, plums and berries. · After blending, Samuel Adams Utopias is aged in finishing barrels sourced from all over the world. This year's batch was finished in single-use bourbon casks from the award-winning Buffalo Trace Distillery to enhance the beer's distinct vanilla and maple notes. This year's batch also spent time in a variety of finishing casks: Tawny Port casks and Vintage Ruby Port casks from Portugal and Rum barrels from Nicaragua. The Port casks contribute the slightly more elegant, dark fruit aromas while the Rum barrels add flavors of fig, chocolate, raisin, vanilla, and a slight spice. From these barrels, we created a completely new brew, never crafted before, for our 10th Anniversary. · The complex flavors intensify individually over time, making Samuel Adams Utopias a very special brew that becomes even better with age.
