Beer Camp Across America
August 08, 2014
Boardwalk on Bulverde
18:00:00
The August theme is "Beer Camp Across America". We'll be sampling all 10 bottles and 2 cans from the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Across America 12-pack, a collection of collaborations with brewers across the country. The 12-packs are in limited supply and many of these brewers don't distribute to Texas - so this will be a meeting not to miss.

Allagash Brewing CompanyBeer Camp Myron's WalkBelgian Pale Ale | 5.3% ABV | 38 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
Myron's Walk is a Belgian-style pale ale combining the best of our two breweries. It features intense citrusy flavor and a complex aroma from the use of fruity and resinous whole-cone Citra and Mosaic hops offset by the complex spicy character of Allagash's house Belgian yeast strain.

Russian River Brewing CompanyBeer Camp Yvan The GreatBelgian Style Blonde | 6.3% ABV | 50 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
As longtime friends, Russian River brewmaster Vinnie Cilurzo and our own Brian Grossman are no strangers to brewing experiments. While looking for inspiration for this collaboration, Vinnie and Brian decided to honor the creations of legendary Belgian brewer Yvan De Baets with their own hop-forward American-Belgian mash-up. This genre-bending beer has the bright, resinous hop profile of an American IPA blended with the dry and complex yeast character of a Belgian farmhouse ale. Yvan the Great is a perfect combination of the two brewing styles—hoppy, dry, spicy, and impressive.

3 Floyds Brewing Co.Beer Camp Chico KingAmerican-Style Pale Ale | 6.5% ABV | 45 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
3 Floyds has a reputation as the Midwestern kings of alpha. Chico King is a mash-up of our mutual passion for hoppy pale ales and combines a uniquely robust malt body with intense citrusy and fruity new school hop varietals. Chico King is a regal yet raucous take on the pale ale that both our breweries adore. It features a complex malt body from the use of an undermodified malt, which leads to a complex and nutty malt flavor, and a bright fruit-forward blend of Mosaic, El Dorado and Calypso hop varietals. Chico King is a beer fit for royalty. Bittering Hops - Mosaic, El Dorado Finishing Hops - El Dorado, Citra, Calypso Malts - Two-row Pale, Pilsner, Caramel

Victory Brewing CompanyBeer Camp Alt RouteGerman-Style Brown Ale/Altbier | 6.6% ABV | 50 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
Alt Route is our take on the old school German Altbier style featuring an ale-lager hybrid yeast, which is top fermenting and fruity like an ale, but matured at cool temperatures for a clean, lager-like flavor. This deep amber beer has a slight emphasis on the richly layered, slightly sweet malt body with enough citrusy hop flavor and aroma to produce a balanced, dry finish.

Asheville Brewers AllianceBeer Camp Tater RidgeScottish Ale | 7% ABV | 35 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
Tater Ridge pays homage to our area's Scottish Highland history, and its craft brew pioneers. With a hint of down home Southern flair, this Scottish ale is rich and malty, using special floor-malted six-row barley from Asheville's Riverbend Malting, and has a smooth kick from the use of sweet potatoes, a tasty Southern staple.

Oskar Blues BreweryBeer Camp CanfusionRye Bock | 7.2% ABV | 45 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
CANfusion is a coming together, a fusion, if you will, of flavors from across the spectrum of brewing: spicy rye, tangy wheat and a bright citrusy hop aroma. It is a dry-hop rye bock with a complex malt body that launches a peppery blast from the rye, balanced by a fruity hop aroma. As the style suggests, it was dry-hopped for an added aroma punch from the unique citrusy and spice-like Australian Ella hop varietal.

Ninkasi Brewing CompanyBeer Camp Double LatteSweet Stout | 7.6% ABV | 60 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
Inspired by the perennial cafe favorite, Double Latte combines two of the greatest things in life: good coffee and great beer. Oregon's Ninkasi Brewing knows their way around a good cup of joe. Featuring cold-press coffee from the legendary Stumptown Coffee Roasters and a dose of milk sugar, this coffee milk stout is a rich and roasty treat. This young-gun brewery has a locomotive charge. A rich conversation at a local bottle shop in 2005 has morphed into a Pacific Northwest staple. Named after the Sumerian goddess of fermentation, Ninkasi's first batch of beer was Total Domination IPA and it remains a must for those with a lupulin itch.

Deep EllumBeer Camp Yonder BockGerman-Style Heller Bock/Maibock | 7.7% ABV | 45 IBUOffered By: CLUB |
Tampa is a long way from our home base in Chico, but the guys down yonder in Florida sure can brew a great beer. Our friends at Cigar City find inspiration in the Cuban roots of their hometown, and that Latin-inspired flair is evident in Yonder Bock. This tropical take on the Maibock adds a Latin island flair to this traditional German style beer. Enamored with the Latin roots of their Tampa home, Cigar City always tries to channel a bit of local history into their beers, e.g. the Humidor Series whose beers age on Spanish cedar as an homage to Tampa's cigar making roots. Only five years old, this brewery deserves the fast praise that's come its way.
