Adelbert's BreweryBlack RhinoBelgian-style Black Ale | 6.2% ABV | Unknown IBUOffered By: SANTA |
Named in honor of the rare Black Rhino Del would hunt during photo safaris in Kenya. Black Rhino is a dark earthy ale with a hint of Saaz hop spice. A smooth and easy drinking ale that goes well with salty appetizers, musky cheeses, and wild game dishes.
Member Notes:
"William: 87; very dark brown, almost murky. Aroma is sweet and roasted, spiced and almost like a dunkelweisen, but with a heavier, sweeter Belgian edge. A little numb on the palate, but still roasted. Somewhat porter-like but with a belgian edge. Eh." - noss

Faust Brewing CompanyPeanut Butter ChocolateSweet Stout | 7% ABV | Unknown IBUOffered By: NOSS |
"Wow... this is an ugly beer. Murky, mossy, medium brown color. Aroma of fresh peanuts and peanut shells. W 88. Sweet, like sticking your nose in a peanut butter jar. Flavor is slick, meaty, and very oily. Chocolate is present but not overwhelming, compliments the peanuts well. Lots of goo... probably peanut oil and chocolate... at the bottom of the glass. Interesting, but very good. Dense, oily, impressive. Just not sessionable." - noss

Southern Tier Brewing Company2X StoutSweet Stout | 7.5% ABV | Unknown IBUOffered By: NOSS |
Milk stout, also called ‘cream' or ‘sweet' stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn't stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

"Good. Mellow" - justin barton
"Slightly hazy, bright orange in color. Off white head. Aroma is sweet and a little bready. Soft and very nice. Just as soft in the mouth, but with an almost soapy yeasty flavor that overwhelms the hops. Not too yeasty, though, just enough to soften it and throw off the hop forward flavor. Finishes bitter, earthy, and weighs down the gut a little. W: 89" - noss

Boulevard Brewing CompanyNommoDubbel | 8.1% ABV | 25 IBUOffered By: SANTA |
The Nommo are ancestral spirits worshipped by the Dogon tribe of the West African nation of Mali. The name is derived from a Dogon word meaning "to make one drink." No, really. Nommo, usually described as amphibious, hermaphroditic, fish-like creatures, were created by the sky god Amma, who caused them to multiply by splitting them into doubled sets of twins. Seeing a trend here? Maybe it's farfetched, but we think the story of the Nommo makes this whole enterprise a little more fun and interesting. Our Nommo has a brilliant deep amber color and a sweet caramel malt profile. This beer showcases the coriander, cinnamon, and star anise used in the kettle, complementing them with clove and banana notes contributed by the Belgian yeast. The rich complexity of Nommo's flavor makes it a worthy partner to a variety of meats and game, as well as aged or aromatic cheeses.

"Clear, bright orange color. Bubbly off white head. Fresh, spicy, almost minty hop aroma with a touch of bread. The flavor is sweet, but the herbal bops spice it up to make it really attractive palate. Almost candy like with a slight hay finish, this is a classy double. Nice mouth feel, great body. William gives this a 90." - noss

Firestone Walker Brewing CompanySucabaAmerican-Style Barley Wine Ale | 13% ABV | 42 IBUOffered By: NOSS |
Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses. Note: Sucaba is the beer formerly known as Abacus until the Winter 2012 release.

"Light bodied in appearance, dark brown in color with a soda-like carbonation. I could smell this all day long. Sweet, woody, alcoholic, slightly bourbonish. When I die I want this on my death bed. Amazing in the mouth. The day I die I want this in my hand. Perfect balance of light bodiedness, maltiness, alcohol and hops all well blended. Smooth, and with a touch of dark, candy like sweetness. This is godly. The perfect balance of all worlds. Just the right amount of everything, with enough hair on its chest to be beefy but not so much that you get hair in your teeth. I wish I could drink this every day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner... I'm in love. W: 94" - noss
